The history of the Cape Liberty Cruise Port dates back to the 1930s when it was first used for industrial needs before becoming a logistical support for the U.S. War Department and the Department of the Navy prior to World War II. In present day, the port is better known as a cruise port destination with yearly excursions to Bermuda, the Bahamas, Jamaica, Dominican Republic and along the North Atlantic for fall foliage itineraries.
